We were leaving Tegot. But before we did we stopped at the market. I was irritated that we did. I then told Simon I would drive.
Everyone packed in the van.
I drove on.
Then I saw someone flat out on the ground on the side of the road. Slowed down.
Stopped.
She wasn't moving.
I said we needed to check on her. Everyone in the van said she was probably drunk and to keep on going.
I said no.
Simon got out...started talking to her...kindly but not kindly...Pato got out and started doing the same.
Then I heard from the Holy Spirit:
"Get out! She needs to be filled with the Spirit - not with drunkness!"
I got out.
The boys were talking to her when I came to them. She was still flat out on the ground mumbling in a drunken stupor. They told me she was drunk and we should go. We all could smell it. I stopped.
"No - you need to share the Gospel with her!! She needs to be filled with the Holy Spirit not with alcohol. She is depressed and needs to hear the Gospel. I can't speak Acholi otherwise I would so you have to!!"
Now, imagine the sternest, point blank, Spirit filled tone of voice from me....I have never been stern with the staff. But I was here. This was life or death here...eternity on the brink.
And they listened.
They got her to sit up. We tried to hold her up...then Simon was explaining God stuff with her...she then got herself to sit up.
She was attentive. He shared the Gospel with her. HE SHARED THE GOSPEL!!
Her name is Lalam Angela.
We then prayed over her. Laid hands and prayed.
All I could hear from the Spirit and all that I could say was "Amado in Yesu. Amado in Yesu." (Stand up in Jesus. Stand up in Jesus). As Simon was praying over her and Pato agreeing.
I told her Amari (I love you). I said Amari. I meant Amari. She looked me in the eye like she never heard those words before. I told her Yesu mari (Jesus loves you). Yesu mari.
When we were finished she tried to get up all on her own. She stumbled a bit and the boys tried to catch her. I told them to let her be that she would walk on her own...and she did. Told her that the Bible talks about how God is the light to our feet and path...that with Him you can't fall and He will set her path straight. But she needs to trust Him, be filled with the Holy Spirit and change her alcohol ways.
A little wavering here and there...but towards the end of the walk the boys took with her towards home, she was walking on her own, praising Jesus, holding their hands and laughing.
I followed them after awhile in the van...watching two men who were eager to pass this woman who they now obviously loved, were walking down the road with, and praising Jesus. Beautiful.
We parted - told her we loved her. Invited her to lunch the next day.
Then I hear from the back of the van "Choci - thank you" from Pato and Simon.
I am told she accepted Jesus.
Pray for Angela.

OH YEAH GOD!! Talk about 'timing'... God's is always 'on time'!! As a friend we both know has reminded me often... "God's time is wise"... and I believe God had you all on that road.. right on time! praise God and thanks for sharing Chrissy!!reatte
Sharing the few words you know, Jesus loves you, and the Holy Spirit - the great translator! - making the most of them. They are the most precious words you have to share! We will keep praying that the seed reaches deep into the soil of her heart.
Pato!!
Oh Chrissy that was beautiful, this just remind me of the story in the bible about the man who was beaten up by the thieves and was left lying to death and the good Samaritan helped him up. thank GOD in Jesus name about our friend Lalam Angela that Christ showed her the way back home through us Amen.
