I was told little Sunday would be my friend if I gave her hug...so Saturday I did. Now she is my BFF....man I love that little girl!!! Saw her today and had to get out of the car to give her a hug cuz she is that cute. :)
I have officially embraced Munu and Muzungu as my name. I actually will smile and wave with a delighted heart....I just think they are calling out for Jesus and right now His ambassador is available to return the calls. :)
Today was a productful and enjoyable day:
did three family visits
received the library agreement - all official and signed
bought sand for the library
took a long hike to Labonya to see Mama Kwo-Tek's home - one hut is done and the other will be started tomorrow
got some yummy mangoes and other fruits that look like olives but taste like dates.
drove in torential downpour in Lacor
ate a lot of good Ug food
talked to some good friends
I have been praying on how to do a devotional/study of some sorts with the team here. We have been praying everyday together at our Prayer Tree and office times, but I wanted to do more. The LORD led me to the book of Isaiah. I've been doing it on my own and I've seen how parallel the book is to the situations here in Uganda. Today we looked and prayed through chapter 1 with the emphasis on our stance with the LORD and how to take care of the widows and orphans cited in verses 16-17:
"Wash yourselves clean!
Get your evil deeds out of my sight!
Stop doing evil, learn to do good!
Seek justice, relieve the oppressed,
defend orphans, plead for the widow."
~Isaiah 1:16-17
Again, the concept of truly knowing our God comes in how we take care of the down and out - the orphans and widows. I found myself, after the cultural norm of shaking hands with the mom's, hugging them. I just opened my arms and they accepted the hug...they laughed but totally accepted it. As much as I love their children I must love them. I can't be around forever or all the time...I must be able to encourage and equip them to be the parents God has called them to be.
Praise God! :)
