New vehicle - new headaches....new adventures....new name: Lamdugii. It means cursed. Ha It sounds funny....I just laugh when Simon calls it that....Cuz he really means it but then laughs...haha.
At least Mary and I got to hangout and take random crazy pictures.
I first have to mention how grateful I am for Team Gulu. We are so like minded and love the LORD....not to mention are willing to do whatever it takes for His will to be done...anyways, it seems like it is a hand selected group of people. Simon, Mary, Pato, Christine, Erick...heck even our mechanics David and Shaban...I am just so proud, pleased, grateful and amazed at the Team. Wow!!
So you can tell, we had more car problems...Gayaza gracioulsy lent out their's until we sell ours and buy a new one because we have so much field work to do (which proves that I NEED to move out to Tegot - actually started thinking which family I could ask to build a hut on their land/compound and join them....for real...and a motorcycle)Anyways, it got to Gulu alright but then not 4 miles out of Gulu town it died....well, it left us to take some fun random pictures and talk about our dreams of moving out to Tegot, buying motorcycles and making papyrus mats....
Shaban, our mechanic who is taking care of Laloyo, called to tell me I needed to come and pay for fuel to test drive the van....so I went. Now, he is a nice guy, but very rough, smokes and drinks a lot and just seems to be your typical scuzzy mechanic guy. Well, we test drove heading to Tegot and he was adament about not going all the way to Tegot. Well, Simon convinced him otherwise. So he came with us.
As we were drivig he told me how he drove to Tegot just once and the one time he drove out there (he was a driver at the time) he was ambushed by the LRA rebels - they shot the car he was driving and it hit is leg. I didn't think that man was sensitive....but right there I saw him in a different light...and I thought to myself, "maybe, just maybe, God broke down our van so much so we could minister to him." And I think we did and will contine. He came to Tegot and saw us interact with the kids...how people ran to us....how we love them. Then he drove us down a bit more to Jennifer's home and saw how we were greeted and even given a chicken! As we were driving back I asked him if now understood why we needed a good vehicle and to have it all the time...and he said yes. He then started talking about what kind of vehicle we should get and then how he will help us sell ours because it is NOT a field vehicle...and he was super sincere about it. I felt at the end of it all we were friends. We bonded. He saw something at Tegot that one can only see when you enter God's ground....it is like a glimpse of heaven of sorts....
And then he promised to have it ready by 9am at the office....
Mama Gloria - Ajok Monica, had her tooth extracted today and will need another one taken out next week. The tiny fragile woman was holding back the tears as she then started getting treatment for her baby, Stephen, who has serious malaria. She tried to breastfeed him but she was so weak and dry.....Pray for the two of them and then for the 5 other children who are at home....She doesn't open up and it is really hard to connect with her....but she does want us around....it is so weird. I can't even explain it to you.
Simon tried teaching me how to drive manual....I succeeded up until I reached the top of the hill...I will get it though...I will have to if that new vehicle is coming!!
Maggie brought over some food again today....how sweet. Cosmas and I ate and hungout.
Ashely is arriving to Uganda today...there have been some confusion going on lately and I am just praying she arrives safely and gets to her hotel ok....there is a part of me that wishes I went down to see her....pray!!
