...finish a long day is to talk to the cutest one year old named Noah and hear him scream Cici!
...get ready to go to bed is to talk to your brother.
...wake up is to hear your mom's voice.
I got a lot of paperwork done today in the morning. I am doing inventory of the sponsorship portfolios and getting those squared away with a nice little checklist I made up. It all works.
Last night I made boo. It turned out great - for me. So I brought some to work today to share with everyone and see where it needed help. I have to say, it turned out so well that I didn't get any recommendations to change it! YAY!!! Baby Sharon, Mary, Pato and even Mama Concy enjoyed it - "Mit". Mama Concy and I might have a competition of who's boo is better...kinda like a chili cookofff - BRING IT, MARGARET!! :) Pato even wiped it down!! I was happy. I can now carry layatas on my head like an Acholi, I can cook boo like an Acholi...I just need to master speaking like an Acholi and then I am there!! :)
I really dig my neighborhood kids. We play this little game of they scream "stop!" when I am in the van and I stop. Then they scream "go!" and I go. We chat a bit which always leads to them saying "Give me my ball!" I know they don't mean to be rude and just want to play but it still sounds rude...so I am teaching them "Please, may I have a ball?" They kinda get it - we will work on it. I officially told them we would play next week when I am off when I saw them a few blocks away from the house. I stopped to chat and they asked me again. Oh funny kids. How do I always get neighbor kids who want to play and hangout with me? It makes me laugh.
One cool part today was when we were about a mile away from town driving back from Tegot, my neighbor kid, Bridget, yelled out "hello Christine". It made me smile.
So at Tegot...we finished up our VBS week with the theme of "Why is it important that Jesus was born?" I then proceeded to teach using the Wordless Book. Each table had at least one book to "read" and follow with me. The books are just colored paper stapled together. It starts with gold which represents God's kingdom and heaven; then black which represents sin and separation from God; then red for blood of punishment which Jesus took for us; then white which represents how we are clean before God if we accept Jesus as our saviour; then green for growth in Christ. I know all the kids say they are saved but I wanted to make sure they knew they needed to live their lives for Him - not just get saved and that's it. There is a transformation and dedication to Him that goes with it. We then talked about recommitting our lives to Christ. We prayed together and I lead them through a prayer. It was sweet. So many kids recommitted their lives to Christ. It blessed the mess out of me. When I saw some faces after the prayer I could almost tell which ones truly desired to commit their lives to Christ...it was written on their hearts and pouring out of their faces. Specifically, Aol and Sharon. Something about those girls just touches me and makes me want to know their lives more.
Went to the market to purchase more boo. Since everyone thought it was so good I thought I should make more. Which I did when I got home with some posho...dang it is good stuff!!!
Almost forgot!!!!! I FOUND THE BEST PINEAPPLES IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD!!! We were across from the fuel station and what does Mary see? A vendor with a truck full of pineapples. You bet we went over there! I was expecting them to be like 3,000 or so shillings...NOPE! 1,500 shillings!! I told the guy to remember my face so I can buy more at that price!! That is less than a dollar for the BEST tasting pineapples EVER!!! You have not tasted pineapple until you have eaten it here. Anyways, bought enough to share with the kids at Tegot. Boy did they eat that up!!! It was like candy but good for them!!!! They don't have that at Tegot so it was a treat for all of us!!! YUM!
And then I got to see my dear friend Debi on skype. PG!!
And Mary thought a staple in my hair was for fashion....
